Unlike subsidized housing programs, each resident is responsible for paying their full amount of rent every month. Rental rates are determined based on pre-set income limits in the geographic area, not individual household income. To be eligible for this program, your total household 'gross' income must be below the pre-set income limit for the area. Important Information: 1. Waiting Lists: Many low income apartments have waiting lists that can be quite lengthy. It may take years before you are contacted for available units. Therefore, we recommend that you try to get on as many waiting lists as possible to increase your chances. 2. If you are interested in availability or open waiting lists, we suggest calling the apartments directly. 3. Apartment Rates: Current apartment rates are provided on many listing pages. However, most HUD listings do not have published rates. Instead, rental rates for these units are based on 30% of the renter's adjustable gross income.
