Affordable Housing Initiative: Providing Solutions for Communities Our Organization's Mission At the Community Housing Initiative, Inc. (C.H.I.), we are dedicated to the advancement of affordable housing. As a non-profit corporation established in 1992, our primary purpose is to address the needs of very low, low, and moderate-income households. Through our efforts, we aim to enhance quality of life and foster strong ties with existing service organizations within the communities we serve. Education and Advocacy for Affordable Housing One of our core goals is to educate communities and raise public awareness about the urgent need for affordable housing. By engaging in informative initiatives, we strive to create a greater understanding of the challenges faced by individuals and families of limited financial means. Financial Assistance Programs C.H.I. proudly offers a comprehensive down payment, closing costs, and repair assistance program to eligible individuals and families residing in Melbourne, Palm Bay, Cocoa, Titusville, and Brevard County. With expertise in administering assistance programs such as the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program and the HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME) Funds, C.H.I. has directly aided 806 first-time homebuyers as of April 2014. HUD Approved Counseling Services As a HUD approved Housing Counseling Agency, C.H.I. provides a wide range of counseling services to support individuals and families in their housing journey. From pre-purchase counseling to group education sessions, rental counseling, and homeowner improvement/maintenance guidance, our experts are here to assist and empower each individual we serve.
