At the Blackstone, we offer elegant and modern apartments. Unique among many apartment communities here in Downtown Los Angeles, The Blackstone Apartments are traditional in nature with walls and doors separating the living rooms from the bedrooms for both the one and two bedroom units. The apartments all boast with real 3/4 inch hardwood floors, walk in closets, pantries, coat closets, 10ft windows, 15ft ceilings, and custom kitchens with all black granite counters, farm sinks, and Hansgrohe faucets. The apartments do not have any exposed conduit, pipes or air conditioning systems. The Blackstone also has subterranean onsite parking, community laundry facility, on-site maintenance, housekeeping, a cardiovascular workout area, and free WiFi in the lobby. Original built in 1918, the Blackstone was the tallest building in Downtown Los Angeles. The Blackstone Department Store Building is an early example of the work of John Parkinson , he was tasked to design a modern department store for his new commercial tenant, Nathaniel Blackstone, a successful dry goods retailer. This Beaux Arts building is clad in grey terracotta and features a detailed cornice with elaborate brackets. In 1939, Blackstone was sold to the Famous Department Store Company and became well known as high-end retailer on Broadway and now has returned with a new luxury Australian retailer BNKR located on our ground level.
