You can view the apartment most any time -- call to make an appointment. To hold the apartment for yourself, you pay the $1000 security deposit, and fill out the Zillow application form online. (If the background check is not accepted, your payment is 100% refundable.) Then when you move in, you pay the half-price rent and utilities for your first 30 days (which is $655,) and for your future last month (which is $1310). So the total is $1965. So at some point in the future when you decide to move, your last 30 days of rental is already paid. The lease is for 1 year, but you have the option to renew it for a second year at the same rate.
