Available for monthly rental beginning Dec. 1, 2023- until June or possibly longer? "Russel Valley Cabin" looks out over a pristine valley, with a Sierra Mountain Range backdrop. The valley is famous for the emigrant trail, the cabin was once owned by a rock climbing legend, but the true magic of this special retreat lies within the ever-changing valley, the activities of countless bird species, nightly frog chorus, and expansive, endless starry skies. Hike, walk, bike, snowshoe, ski, fish, explore, relax, and recharge all within a short distance of beautiful Lake Tahoe and many rivers and reservoirs. Only 11 miles from downtown Truckee, near Stampede and Boca Reservoirs. The cabin is extremely cozy, perfect for a retreat up in the mountains, a winter ski lease, or a base in the region. It is fully furnished, with fully supplied kitchen and has two beds. The cabin is small, but very well laid out. One side of the cabin is a bedroom w/closet, then the bathroom then another reading nook with another bed (really a bedroom and a half), the other side of the house is the kitchen, dining and living room with wood burning stove. There is a very big deck in front of the cabin that overlooks a big valley . The cabin ideal for people who want to get a little away, while still being close to everything the Tahoe/Truckee area has to offer. While only 11 miles from downtown Truckee it feels as if you are going back in time to the 'ole West. You can walk (and see from the cabin) a post quoting wagon train explorers on the original Emigrant trail. The cabin was once owned by the first man to climb "El Capitan", Warren Harding, it was also the first cabin in this area, originally used by the Forest Service. For winter months the area is great snow-shoeing, cross country skiing and about 20/25 minute drive to Northstar, Alpine or Squaw Valley from the cabin door. Main source for heat is wood burning stove, but there are also heaters when needed. The cabin is on Russel Valley Rd, the property is 6 acres with two cabins, horse corral, barn and other structures. You can often see neighbors horseback riding by on a weekend with their dogs. I am an animal lover and would consider a dog along with the cabin tenant. I do require that the dog gets along with my dogs as I live on the property as well, and there is a pet deposit. You would have your own driveway and snow removal on the deck would be your responsibility. Electric costs average usually $50-$100 per month, dependent on your use. I have a small amount of wood for you, but wood is your primary heat source and would be your responsibility for acquiring and managing. The stove is efficient so a full winter of wood should cost about $200-$300 depending what kind and how much you get. Internet is Starlink and optional and is $60 per month. Gas, trash and water are included. I live on the property as well. The buildings are not too far apart, but are set in a way to provide privacy. I am looking for mature and quiet tenants that appreciate the outdoors and are independent. The views and access to the outdoors is unprecedented. Owner pays for gas, water and trash. Tenant is responsible for electricity, wood for wood burning stove, internet (optional), snow removal of deck and $25 fee per driveway plow (when over 10 inches). Dogs are allowed if well behaved, must pay dog deposit. Cabin is furnished. No smoking allowed. No subletting or parties. Cabin is available late Nov/early December and be for 6 months or longer if the tenant is the right fit.
