The building is Located 1 mile out on 2 mile long Flying Point peninsula, is 300 ft from Casco Bay with several deeded access points to the water. Have your coffee on the built in bench on right of way stairs overlooking a string of islands in the bay. It's a great area to live, with great walking, running and biking. Summer? Kayaking, canoeing, fishing, clamming and sailing are easy from our deeded ocean access points. Winter? Snow shoeing and cross country skiing trails all over the point and at Wolfe's Neck Farm and State Park. Wolfe's Neck Farm and State Park are within 2 miles. 295 is only 4 miles away and the roads are very well plowed in winter. Downtown Portland is 25 minutes away. Brunswick is 6 miles away, and Augusta is 35 minutes. Avoiding downtown traffic in summer is easy via Upper Mast Landing Road. Oh- the Ocean Effect on local climate: did you know that it is up to 20 degrees cooler on Flying Point than inland on summer days, and warmer in winter- this is due to the ocean effect on our weather. Are you a foodie? We have one of the finest markets in Maine right on your route to 295 from our building: Bow St Market. Great local veggies, famous butcher shop and also a major fine wine and liquor distributor, this place attracts people from all over- and you can stop on your way home and grab dinner (we do!). We built this home with the hand hewn frame of a 150 year old barn, but the building is thoroughly modern: (repeating myself a bit...) It is super insulated, very efficient to heat, and fuel (propane) is locked in at $1.679/gal which we pass directly on to our guests! Building used only 900 gallons last year- that's about $1500 for the YEAR -your usage will vary of course by your settings but father and young daughter didn't freeze... This is truly a lovely home, not just a "house". We are therefore careful about how we rent it: 1 year min. lease, no pets- really, sorry, no pets, not even your angel- we've been at this 30 years and have heard it all, and fixed it all in the past . 1st month and 1 month security. Garage is available at additional cost ($125/mo) One year lease, Tenant pays electric, heat at reduced cost of $1.679/gal for propane. Also plowing and mowing plus trash. We are on septic and well so no sewer or water cost. Last month due at signing as well as deposit and first month.
